A Critical Framework to Develop Human-Centric Positive Energy Districts: Towards Justice, Inclusion, and Well-Being

Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) are a new energy initiative from European member states. They are, simply put, local districts which produce more than they consume. PEDs expected to adopt human-centric perspective in order create liveable and sustainable urban neighbourhoods. However, as previous research on transitions has demonstrated, the mainstream approach technocratic tradition of policy vis-à-vis could result perpetuation social inequalities, injustices, passive participation citizens also within PEDs. Hence, it is crucial these early days discuss what should entail how be enacted. Based narrative literature review critical sciences' (and specifically environmental psychology), this paper will propose framework containing five key dimensions relevant for creating just inclusive These are: uncertainty, risk perception trust; distributive justice; recognition justice people-place relations; procedural and, routines, capabilities lived experiences.
